Earn a GED

  • The GED is recognized by employers and colleges as the equivalent of a high school diploma.

  • Free classes to prepare eligible Kentuckians to take the five-part GED test are available at adult education centers in every county.

  • Kentuckians can also study online through Kentucky Virtual Adult Education.

  • Kentucky Educational Television has a program, GED Connection, which lets you study at home.

Brush up on skills

Eligible Kentuckians can enroll in free courses online or in an adult education center to brush up on reading, math and other subjects to prepare for college. Visit or call a local adult education center to discuss your options.

Explore your career options

Adult education centers also help eligible Kentuckians prepare for employment. Find out about how to earn a "Kentucky Employability Certificate" and prove to employers you’re ready for work.
