CAMPUS SUMMARY
Union is a small, spirited, independent liberal arts college in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain range. The college, affiliated with the United Methodist Church, was founded in 1879 in the town of Barbourville. Union College is a learning community dedicated to creating personal, intellectual and social transformation through the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, service and spiritual growth.
Four state parks filled with falls, lakes and streams surround the 100-acre campus. The famous Wilderness Road spans the east side of campus and Cumberland Gap National Historic Park is just 30 miles away.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Part of Union's mission is to improve the quality of life among their descendants. The Union College Appalachian Studies program offers opportunities for study and research - but most important, direct service and personal experience. The Appalachian Semester in particular offers academic credit for a combination of classroom and field experience in areas such as oral histories, politics, religion, folklore and environmental issues. Choose from 30 traditional majors, plus minors and pre-professional programs of study.
