| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
 |
Founded as a private liberal arts college in 1889, Cumberland College officially and proudly became University of the Cumberlands on July 1, 2005. Located on three hills consisting of approximately 50 acres, UC offers a picturesque campus with stately buildings and rolling green lawns nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountain range in Southeastern Kentucky. Within a few miles of campus are Laurel Lake, Cumberland Falls State Park, Cumberland Gap National Park, and the Daniel Boone National Forest. Christian values foster a supportive caring atmosphere at UC. While the university is affiliated with the Kentucky Baptist Convention, students of all denominations can be found on campus, and all receive the same wide-ranging opportunities for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship. The student body averages around 1,700 students from as far away as South Africa and as near as our own neighborhood and represents 38 states and 14 foreign countries. |

All UC students take part in leadership seminars and community service projects. The college supports its academic programs through full access to the Internet and its own on-campus intranet system. University of the Cumberlands is recognized for its thorough preparation of students for professional schools (medicine, law, etc.).
