St. Catharine College is open to and provides equal opportunity to all students regardless of age, race, color, disability, gender, religion, or national origin. While St. Catharine College has a liberal admissions policy, it considers the quality of high school preparation, ACT or COMPASS assessment scores, student motivation, and potential for further education as important factors in evaluating applicants. Placement decisions are made on the basis of these factors. Prospective students are encouraged to make appointments through the Admissions Office for a campus tour and interview. Students must disclose their full academic history during the admissions process except as noted below for nondegree students. A student who fails to disclose his or her full academic history will jeopardize their admission or subsequent enrollment in the college.
First-Year Students
First-time, degree-seeking applicants, both full-time and part-time, must submit the following information to the Admissions Office unless otherwise noted in subsequent sections:
  • The application agreement and $15 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript(s) showing the date of graduation or an official GED report showing successful completion (For exceptions, see Exceptions to High School Transcripts)
  • A report of scores from the ACT (American College Test) or the SAT (Scholastic Reasoning Test) taken within the last five years. Students whose ACT/SAT scores are over five years old or who have not completed the ACT or SAT prior to registration will be required to take the COMPASS Evaluation Battery at the college prior to registration
  • Academic placement based on high school transcripts, student experience, and ACT/SAT or COMPASS scores will be made at the time of registration. Students may be placed into Foundations Challenge courses based on ACT/SAT or COMPASS scores. See page information on Academic Placement

  • An official transcript from all colleges attended prior to applying to St. Catharine
  • A copy of the catalog containing course descriptions from previous colleges if requested by the registrar. In general, all coursework submitted for transfer to St. Catharine must have been completed at an institution accredited as a degree granting institution by a regional accrediting commission at the time the work was completed
  • Transfer credit will not be granted for grades below C. For policies regarding credit for life experience learning or professional and continuing education, see Academic Policies.
  • At the discretion of the committee on admissions and scholastic standing, a transfer student who was not in good standing at a previous institution at the time of application to St. Catharine may be accepted with specific academic conditions.
